Overview

Harith ibn Mas'ud al-Qarmati, a leader of the Qarmatians who appeared in the countryside of Iraq. Ibn al-Athir reports in "Al-Kamil" that more than ten thousand men who held the Qarmatian doctrine and had been concealing it gathered around him in the countryside of Wasit, and then revealed it. 2

In the lands of al-Muwaffaqiyya

Harith moved to the lands of al-Muwaffaqiyya, built a house there which he named "the House of Emigration", and seized that district. Ibn al-Athir describes his followers as plundering, taking captives and killing, and says that they defeated the Banu Ibn Nufays. 2
