Overview

Hisham ibn Isma'il al-Makhzumi, governor of Medina in the time of Abd al-Malik ibn Marwan. 1

His stance on Sa'id ibn al-Musayyab

Hisham called on the people to give their allegiance to the heirs apparent, al-Walid and Sulayman. When Sa'id ibn al-Musayyab refused, he struck him, paraded him around and imprisoned him, and informed the caliph of this. 1

Then Abd al-Malik wrote to the governor that Sa'id had more need of mercy than of beating. 2
