Overview

Abu Abdallah ibn Abdus al-Jahshiyari wrote the reports of al-Muqtadir billah in thousands of folios. Al-Mas'udi says that a few small parts of them came into his hands. 2

His compilation

Men of knowledge told al-Mas'udi that he composed a separate brief account of each of the caliphs. 2

The Fihrist says that he began a book in which he selected a thousand nights of tales from the Arabs, the Persians and the Romans. Four hundred and eighty nights had been gathered for him, with about fifty folios for each night. Death overtook him before he completed the thousand. 3
