Overview

The shaykh Taqi al-Din Muhammad ibn Ali, known as Ibn Daqiq al-Id, a Shafi'i scholar, who died in 702 AH. The conversion to the Gregorian calendar is derived. 1

He compiled al-Ilmam, which gathers the hadith texts relating to rulings, stripped of their chains of transmission, and then wrote a commentary on it that he called al-Imam. Kashf al-Zunun says it was said that no greater work of this kind had been written, but that he did not complete it. Al-Biqa'i says that he completed it, but that after his death only a little of it was found, and it is said that some envious person destroyed it. 1

He is credited with al-Ilmam fi Ahadith al-Ahkam.
