Overview

Ibn Hubayra, vizier of the caliph al-Muqtafi. Al-Suyuti relates from him the account of the curse on Mas'ud. 2

The curse on Mas'ud

Ibn Hubayra, as al-Suyuti relates, said that the followers of Mas'ud had overstepped toward al-Muqtafi and behaved with disrespect, and that open war was not possible. The opinion was agreed to curse him for a month, following the Prophet ﷺ's curse on the tribes of Ri'l and Dhakwan for a month. He and the caliph began to pray the curse secretly, at the time before dawn, from the night of 29 Jumada al-Ula. He relates that Mas'ud died on his bed when the month was complete. 2
