In al-Baladhuri

Al-Baladhuri says that al-Khawarnaq was granted to him in "the blessed state". He was the grandfather of Abd al-Rahman ibn Ishaq the judge in the City of Peace (Baghdad) in the caliphate of al-Ma'mun and al-Mu'tasim; he was a client of al-Rabab. He is said to have built the dome of al-Khawarnaq in the caliphate of Abu al-Abbas, when there had been none before it. 1
