Overview

Isa ibn al-Shaykh al-Shaybani, an amir of the Shayban. Al-Mas'udi relates that he came from Egypt to Samarra in 253 AH with a great deal of money. 1

The Talibids

Seventy-six men of the descendants of Abu Talib were with him, from the line of Ali, Ja'far and Aqil. They had left the Hijaz for Egypt to flee the strife. Al-Mu'tazz ordered them to be placed under surety and released, and appointed Isa over Palestine. 1
