Overview
Isma'il ibn Qabiha, a full brother of al-Mu'tazz on the father's and the mother's side. Al-Mas'udi says that al-Mu'tazz placed him in line for the succession in place of his brother al-Mu'ayyad, after al-Mu'ayyad had been taken out of his prison dead. 2
