Overview

Abu al-Makarim Muslim ibn Quraysh ibn Badran al-Uqayli, whose title was Sharaf al-Dawla, the last of the strong Banu Uqayl emirs. He is the son of Quraysh ibn Badran. 1

Aleppo

He took Aleppo in 472 AH and wrote to Sultan Malikshah a document in which he bore witness against himself that he would pay three hundred thousand dinars every year to the sultan's treasury, and the sultan agreed. 2

An attempt on his life

In 474 AH two servants entered the bathhouse on him in disguise. His companions reached him while he was near death, and he survived, and the two servants were killed. In the report of Abd al-Malik ibn Hamdan, one servant attacked him, and his people broke the door and took him out dead. He later caught the servant after some days, cut out his tongue and killed him. 3
