Sahl ibn Harun, head of the House of Wisdom and scribe over the treasuries of wisdom 2.
Keeper of the Greek books
Ibn Nubata reports that al-Ma'mun made him keeper of the treasury of Greek books that had been brought from Cyprus. These were the books of the philosophers which were handed over to al-Ma'mun when he made peace with the lord of al-Jazira and asked him for that treasury 2.
His literary work
He was one of the modern Arabic poets, and, according to Duha al-Islam, one of those accused of Shu'ubiyya 3.
