Overview

Sa'id ibn Amr al-Jarashi, whom Maslama ibn Abd al-Malik appointed over Khurasan. al-Baladhuri reports that he called the people of Sughd to obedience. When they persisted in opposing him, he marched against them; about twelve thousand of their main force broke away from them, and he conquered most of the fortresses of Sughd 1.

al-Baladhuri also gives an account of his secretary, who made grammatical errors in his speech. The amir said that he was free of this error 1.
