Overview

Salih ibn Muhammad al-Hariri, one of the boon-companions of al-Muntasir in his time as a prince 2.

An anecdote

Al-Muntasir asked him whether he had ever been in love. He recounted that he had loved a singing slave-girl belonging to a concubine (umm walad) of al-Rashid, at al-Rasafa in the days of al-Mu'tasim, and that she threatened him when he sent her a message. al-Muntasir sent for her, and she turned out to be an old woman, bent and past marriageable age, with some remnant of beauty. He married her to Salih, gave her a dowry, and scattered over him walnuts and perfumed coins. She stayed with him for a time, then he tired of her and divorced her 2.
