Overview

A king of the Sasanian Persians. al-Tabari mentions him under the heading "The Reign of Shapur Dhu al-Aktaf" 1.

Al-Hadr and al-Nudayra

al-Mas'udi reports that he besieged the fortress of al-Hadr, held by al-Dayzan, king of Tanukh, for a month, and found no way to take it. Then al-Nudayra, daughter of al-Dayzan, showed him how to scatter straw on the Tharthar river and follow it wherever it entered. He took the fortress, killed al-Dayzan and razed it 2.

He also reports that when he discovered the gentleness of her upbringing, and that she had betrayed her father and her people, he ordered her tied by her braids to two unruly horses, which tore her apart 2.

The years of his reign and his affairs need an additional source.
