Overview

Sulayman ibn Qutta, a poet who lamented al-Husayn ibn Ali (may God be pleased with him), as reported by al-Zubayr ibn Bakkar in the Genealogies of Quraysh and transmitted by al-Mas'udi 2.

His elegy

Two verses from his elegy are attributed to him by al-Mas'udi. In one, the slain of al-Taff from the family of Hashim humbled the necks of Quraysh. In the other, the earth became sick at the killing of Husayn, and the land shuddered 2.
