Overview
Taj al-Din Yildiz, one of the first mamluks of Shihab al-Din al-Ghuri and the highest in his regard. He was lord of Kirman, between Ghazna and Lahawr 1.
The death of his master
Ibn al-Athir reports that his master was killed in the year 602 AH. Yildiz went out to meet the litter, and kissed the ground as was his custom in his master's lifetime. Then the cover was lifted, and when he saw him dead, he tore his clothes and cried out and wept, and he made the people weep 1.
Ghazna
He coveted the rule of Ghazna. He took over the treasury of Shihab al-Din from the vizier Mu'ayyid al-Mulk, when the Turks inclined toward him. He claimed that Ghiyath al-Din Mahmud had made him his deputy there 1.
