Overview

Theophilos, king of the Byzantines. al-Mas'udi reports that he set out with his armies, with the kings of Burjan, the Burghar and the Saqaliba. He camped at Zibatra on the Khazar frontier, took it by the sword and took captives. Then he raided the lands of Malatya in the year 223 AH 2.

al-Mas'udi also reports that al-Afshin met him in the lands of the Byzantines, defeated him, and killed most of his patricians. A man of the converted Christians, called Nusayr, protected him 2.

His full name and dates of birth and death are not given here. The entry needs an additional source.
