Overview
Abu al-Husayn Yahya ibn Umar ibn Yahya ibn al-Husayn ibn Abd Allah ibn Isma'il ibn Abd Allah ibn Ja'far al-Tayyar. al-Mas'udi reports that he rose in Kufa in the year 248 AH, or it is said 250 AH, because of a humiliation that had befallen him and a harshness that reached him from al-Mutawakkil and the Turks. He began his affair by refraining from bloodshed and from taking people's property. Then he was killed, and his head was carried to Baghdad and crucified, and the people wailed, because of the love for him in their hearts. al-Mas'udi describes him as religious and generous in good deeds 2.
