Overview
al-Mafaza: a district bordering Sisar. al-Baladhuri reports that al-Jarashi evicted its people, and most of them put their estates under the protection of their commander Hammam ibn Hani al-Abdi. He collected the due of the treasury until he died. Then his son and Muhammad ibn al-Abbas offered it to al-Ma'mun, when he came from Khurasan, on terms that they would give him its ownership and be his cultivators, on condition of support and protection against the brigands. He accepted, and it became part of the estates of the caliphate. 1
