Overview

Bamiyan: one of the first lands of India on the side of Sijistan. In it is a great house of the Budd temples, where ascetics and worshippers dwell, and in it are golden idols set with jewels, according to Ibn al-Nadim. India makes pilgrimage to it from the farthest parts of its lands, by land and sea. Ya'qub ibn al-Layth reached this place, and from it images were sent to the City of Peace. 2
