Overview

The Guadalquivir is the great river of al-Andalus, which passes through Cordoba. Al-Idrisi reports that it emerges from a mountain, plunges under the earth and then reappears. It passes Cordoba, Seville and Cadiz, then flows into the Sea of Darkness. He says its source is one with that of the river of Murcia. 2
