Overview

Mount Tansaf is reached two stages from al-Tilmun. It has a smooth edge with a narrow crack in it. Al-Idrisi relates a well-known report about it: birds come at a fixed time of the year and put their heads into the crack, and they die. He says the report is recorded in many books, and that he had not verified it himself. 2
