Overview

Jarish is a great fire temple in Qumis. Who built it is not known, according to al-Mas'udi. It is said that Alexander left it and did not put out its fire. It is also said that there was once a great city on the site, with a large house in it containing idols; it was ruined, and then the house was built and the fire placed in it. 2
