Overview
Marsa al-Kharaz, the Harbour of Beads, is a small city with a strong wall. Its people live by catching coral, which is carried from it to all lands, and merchants from every country come to it, according to al-Idrisi. 2
Al-Maqdisi mentions that it is a city on an island which can be entered from one point only, that coral is extracted from its sea, and that there is no other source of coral. 3
