Overview
Masfahan is an island in the western sea, near the Eternal Islands (al-Jaza'ir al-Khalidat), according to al-Idrisi. He relates from the author of the Book of Wonders that in its centre there is a round hill, on which stands a red idol built by As'ad Abu Karib al-Himyari as a landmark for whoever travels to that region, and that there are enormous beasts there. 3 4
