Overview

The River of Ibn Umar is a river at Basra. Abd Allah ibn Umar ibn Abd al-Aziz, governor for Yazid ibn al-Walid, dug it so that its people could drink from it, after complaints about the brackishness of their water. The source mentions in this connection the two water-flasks of Basra and al-Butayha. 1
