Overview

Sanf Island is an island near the coast, a few miles from Qumar, according to al-Idrisi. Sanf aloes-wood (al-oud al-sinfi) is found there, which in his view is better than ordinary aloes-wood. Cattle, coconuts, bananas, sugar cane and rice are also found there. The author mentions that its people do not kill the cattle, but leave them until they die and then eat them. 2
