Overview

Ulays is a town in the Sawad. In one copy it is written "al-Layth", according to al-Baladhuri. Jaban went out to it with a great host, and al-Muthanna ibn Haritha met him at the River of Blood. Khalid made peace with its people, on condition that they be spies for the Muslims against the Persians, and guides and helpers. 1
