Warthan
ورثان
An Azerbaijani bridge-town like the Wahsh and Arshaf bridges of Babak's days; Marwan ibn Muhammad built and revived it as his estate, it fell with the Umayyad seizures to Zubayda umm Ja'far whose agents razed the wall — lately rebuilt — and there al-Afshin Haydar ibn Kawus camped and fortified during the Babak war.

Overview
Warthan is a town in Azerbaijan, which has a bridge like the two bridges of Wahsh and Arshaf that were built in the days of Babak. Marwan ibn Muhammad built it, revived its land and fortress, and it became his estate. 1
After the Umayyads
Al-Baladhuri relates that it was confiscated along with the estates of the Banu Umayya for Zubayda, mother of Ja'far. Her agents demolished its wall, and then it was repaired and renewed soon after. In it al-Afshin Haydar ibn Kawus camped during the fighting with Babak, and he fortified it. 1
