Detailed answer

Islam is the name of the religion brought by the Prophet Muhammad, and it rests on faith in God alone. In the hadith that is counted among the best-known definitions of Islam, the Prophet defines Islam as worshipping God and not associating anything with Him, establishing the prayer, paying zakat, fasting Ramadan, and making pilgrimage to the House 1. A Muslim begins with the testimony, that there is no god but God and that Muhammad is the Messenger of God. It is the first thing the hadith of the pillars mentions. From it branch what are known as the five pillars, whose details are in the entry on the five pillars of Islam. To define Islam, scholars mention three dimensions: belief, worship and ethics. The entry on Islam presents the meaning of the word in the hadith and in creed, and the entry on the testimony presents the first pillar.
