Overview
Shakar is a mountain belonging to the people of Jarash. At it Surad ibn Abd Allah turned upon those among them who sought him, and killed them severely. 1
Its name
After the afternoon prayer, the Prophet asked the two envoys of Jarash: In which of God's lands is Shukr? They said: In our land there is a mountain called Kashr, and the people of Jarash call it that too. He said: It is not Kashr, but Shukr. He also said that the sacrificial camels (budn) of God were being slaughtered there at that very moment. The two envoys found that their people had been struck on the very day and hour he had mentioned. See The campaign of Surad against Jarash. 1
