Overview
Yemen: cradle of the Qahtani Pure Arabs; stage of the kingdoms of Saba' and Himyar, then of the Abyssinian and Persian occupations before Islam.
The place
The cradle of Qahtan's people; among the earliest peoples known there were the Sabaeans, found mentioned in Ur's excavations twenty-five centuries before the Common Era 1.
Kingdoms and occupations succeeded one another over it: the Mukarribs ruled, then Saba''s kings, then Himyar; then the Romans entered Aden, and with their aid the Abyssinians occupied Yemen twice; then it won independence under Sayf Dhi Yazan in 575 CE; then it became a Persian province until its last governor Badhan became Muslim in 638 CE 1.
For young visitors
Yemen is an ancient land in the peninsula's south; many tribes went out from it everywhere, and kingdoms succeeded one another over it before Islam.
