Overview
A collection of the sayings of Ali ibn Abi Talib (may God be pleased with him), and his selected words. 2
The dispute over its compiler
Scholars disagree about it. It is said that it was compiled by al-Sharif al-Radi, and it is said that it was compiled by al-Sharif al-Murtada. It is also said that it is not the speech of Ali, and that the one who compiled it and attributed it to him is the one who composed it. Ibn Khallikan and Ibn al-Imad report these views as points of disagreement. 2
What is not set out here: the position of modern studies and the position of the Shi'a on its attribution. A further source is needed.
