Overview

In Rajab 469 AH (1076 CE), the Seljuk commander Atsiz ibn Uwaq was defeated when he wanted to invade Egypt. al-Sallabi says the defeat came at the hands of a force of Arabs, before the great army that the vizier Badr al-Jamali had prepared met him. His failure led to further fragmentation, and he was killed around 1078 CE. 1
