Overview

Ibn al-Athir, in "Al-Kamil", reports that in 604 AH the Georgians took the fortress of Qars, of the districts of Khilat, after besieging it for a long time, narrowing the lives of those inside, and taking the revenues of the province for years. 1

The surrender

None of those who had come down to Khilat rescued the people of the fortress. When the matter dragged on for its governor, he made peace with the Georgians, to surrender the citadel in return for much money and an estate. 1

Ibn al-Athir comments that it became a house of polytheism after having been a house of monotheism. This is his own comment. He then mentions the death of the Georgian queen and their disagreement, so that their evil was kept away until the end of the year. 1
