Kaykhusraw I's restoration to the Rum Sultanate (600 AH)
ملك كيخسرو بلاد الروم من ابن أخيه
March 1204 CE · Rajab 600 AH
Rajab 600: Ghiyath al-Din Kaykhusraw's astonishing restoration — the exile who had been snubbed at Aleppo, pensioned in Constantinople and married to a patrician's daughter before the Frankish sack, was called back by the Oghuz Turks on his brother's death, routed before Konya — until the people of Aksaray rose crying his name and Konya followed: 'in one hour God gathered the whole kingdom for him' 1.

Overview
In Rajab 600 AH Ghiyath al-Din Kaykhusraw ibn Qilij Arslan took the lands of Rum, according to Ibn al-Athir. 2
Before his return
He had fled from his brother Rukn al-Din Sulayman, who had taken Konya. He went to al-Malik al-Zahir, lord of Aleppo, and found no welcome there, then moved on until he reached Constantinople. The king of the Romans treated him well and gave him an estate, and he married the daughter of a great patrician. When the Franks took Constantinople he fled to his father-in-law in his fortress. 2
His return
After his brother's death the Turks went against his nephew al-Awj, and called Ghiyath al-Din. He marched to Konya, and the army of his nephew defeated him. Then the people of Aksaray rose against the governor and proclaimed his banner, so the people of Konya summoned him; he took the city and seized his nephew and those with him. Ibn al-Athir says that God gathered all the lands for him in a single hour. 2
