Overview
In Muharram 610 AH Ayatghamish, the lord of Hamadhan, was killed, after the caliph had honoured him and sent him to Hamadhan. 2
The account
Ibn al-Athir relates that Ayatghamish came to Baghdad, and the caliph honoured him with a robe of honour and sent him to Hamadhan. He reached the lands of Ibn Tarjam, waiting for the armies of Baghdad. The caliph had removed Sulayman ibn Tarjam from the command of his Turkmen tribe and appointed his younger brother. 2
Sulayman sent to Mengeli to inform him of Ayatghamish's situation. They seized him and killed him, carried his head to Mengeli, and his companions dispersed. 2
Afterwards
Ibn al-Athir says that the matter was grave for the caliph, and he sent to rebuke Mengeli. Mengeli replied harshly and took control of the lands. 2
