The fall and death of Mangli (612 AH)
قتل منكلي صاحب بلاد الجبل
September 1215 CE · Jumada I 612 AH
Jumada I 612: Mangli — master of Hamadan, Isfahan and Rayy — fell to the coalition al-Nasir built around his killer's ambition: Uzbek of Azerbaijan, the Ismaili Jalal al-Din of the castles, and the grand army under Kukburi of Irbil with Mosul, Jazira and Aleppo contingents. Trapped in the mountains he had the caliphal army near starvation — then gambled on a downhill charge, won the first day over Uzbek, lost the second, fled and was killed; his mamluk Aghlamish inherited the kingdoms 1.

Overview
Background
Mangli had taken the lands and killed Ayatghamish, and the caliph's court found fault with him for it. The caliph urged Uzbek ibn al-Bahlawan, lord of Azerbaijan, to fight him, and sent an army whose commander was Muzaffar al-Din Sunqur. He ordered Muzaffar al-Din Kokburi, lord of Irbil, to be commander of all the armies. 2
The battle
Mangli took refuge in the mountains, and the caliph's army ran short of supplies. Then he camped with his army, attacked Uzbek and defeated him. On the next day he came down with all his army, and they fought very fiercely; Mangli was routed, fled and was killed. 2
