Overview
A large Arab tribe of Qays in Najd, distinct from Banu Amir ibn Lu'ayy of Quraysh. Among its branches are Banu Kilab and Banu Ja'far ibn Kilab, from whom came the chiefs of its delegation. 1
Their delegation in Ibn Hisham's biography
The delegation of Banu Amir came to the Prophet in the year 9 AH. It included Amir ibn al-Tufayl, Arbad ibn Qays ibn Juz ibn Khalid ibn Ja'far, and Jabbar ibn Salma ibn Malik ibn Ja'far. Ibn Ishaq says these three were the chiefs of the people, and he describes them in harsh terms, which are his own and not the museum's. 1 During the delegation came the plot of Amir and Arbad. Amir then died in the house of a woman of Banu Salul, and Arbad died by a thunderbolt. 2 3 Arbad's maternal brother, Labid ibn Rabi'a, was the poet of the tribe. 3
