Overview

Abu Zayd Abd al-Hamid ibn al-Walid ibn al-Mughira al-Misri, known as Kabd, one of the Egyptian companions of al-Shafi'i, who died long ago. Al-Daraqutni mentioned him among those who transmitted from al-Shafi'i. 1

In the editor's footnote, Ibn Yunus is reported to have said that he was called Kabd because he was heavy, and that he died in 211 AH according to Ibn Hajar and Ibn Yunus. al-Shirazi does not mention the year, and a second source is needed. 1
