موجز
أشرس بن عبد الله السلمي استعمله هشام على خراسان. يروي البلاذري أن معه كاتباً نبطياً يكنى أبا أمية زين له الشر، فزاد في وظائف خراسان واستخف بالدهاقين. ودعا أهل ما وراء النهر إلى الإسلام وطرح الجزية عمن أسلم، فأسرعوا إليه وانكسر الخراج، فأخذ المسالمة فأنكروا ذلك. وحبس ثابت قطنة ثم خلى سبيله، فقتلته الترك. 1
