Summary

Of Banu Sahm; he emigrated to Abyssinia, was wounded at al-Ta'if with the Prophet, and was killed on the day of Fihl in Umar's caliphate — or it is said he was killed at Khaybar, a matter of doubt. 1

In the Abyssinian emigrants chapter

Ibn Ishaq names him among Banu Sahm, saying he was wounded at al-Ta'if with the Prophet and killed on the day of Fihl in Umar ibn al-Khattab's caliphate. 1 He adds that it is said he was killed at Khaybar, and that this is a matter of doubt. 1 The editors' note mentions that Fihl is a place in Syria where the Muslims fought the Romans one year after Damascus's conquest (p. 8).

Tribe

He belongs, per Ibn Ishaq, to Banu Sahm 1

Source notes and markers of doubt

  • Ibn Ishaq said: "and it is said: he was killed at Khaybar — it is doubted" (p. 8). Museum note: Khaybar precedes al-Ta'if, so the two reports cannot stand together with his wounding at al-Ta'if; the book leaves the doubt unresolved.
