Summary

Ibn Ishaq names him as a possibility in place of his brother Ma'n, among the two men the Prophet charged with demolishing the Dirar mosque. 1

Source notes and markers of doubt

  • The text says no more than "or his brother Asim ibn Adi" (p. 174); his share in the demolition is possible, not asserted, in Ibn Ishaq.
  • This name is easily confused with the known Asim ibn Adi al-Ajlani of the biographical works; their identity was not verified in this batch (needs_source).

The demolition of Masjid al-Dirar

When the Prophet stopped at Dhi Awan on his return from Tabuk, news of the mosque reached him; he summoned Malik ibn al-Dukhshum and Ma'n ibn Adi (or his brother Asim) and ordered them to demolish and burn it. They did so, its people dispersed, and Qur'an was revealed about them, according to Ibn Ishaq.
