Overview

Abd al-Rahim ibn Abd al-Rahman ibn al-Faras al-Qahtani, one of the scholars of al-Andalus, known as al-Mahr. Ibn Khaldun in al-Ibar relates that he once attended the majlis of al-Mansur and spoke in a way that he feared the consequences of, so he went into hiding for a time. 1

After the death of al-Mansur he appeared in the country of Kazula, claimed the imamate, and asserted that he was the Qahtani meant in the report of a man from Qahtan who would emerge and lead people with his staff. 1

Al-Nasir sent armies against him; they defeated him, he was killed, and his head was carried to Marrakesh and displayed there. 1

This is what Ibn Khaldun's account alone reports. Other reports or scholarly views are not given here. It needs an additional source.
