Overview
Al-Ja'd ibn Dirham, the man to whom Marwan ibn Muhammad is attributed, so that he is called "Marwan al-Ja'di". Ibn al-Nadim says he was tutor to Marwan and his children, and that he drew them into heresy (zandaqa). 2
His death
Hisham ibn Abd al-Malik had him killed during his caliphate, after his long imprisonment with Khalid ibn Abdallah al-Qasri. It is said that the family of al-Ja'd submitted a petition to Hisham complaining of their weakness and of his long imprisonment, so Hisham wrote to Khalid about killing him. Khalid killed him on the day of Eid al-Adha and made him a substitute for the sacrifice, after he had announced it from the pulpit on Hisham's order. 2
This account comes from Ibn al-Nadim, with the verb "it is said". The museum's data also mention Marwan ibn Muhammad, Hisham ibn Abd al-Malik and Khalid al-Qasri.
