Overview

Luqman ibn Ad, whom al-Mas'udi calls Luqman the Great. Reports attribute to him the building of the dam of Sheba, a causeway which he is said to have made a farsakh by a farsakh. 2

Longevity

Al-Mas'udi says, in Akhbar al-Zaman, when he speaks of long life, that he lived among his people the lifespan of vultures. He adds that the Arabs were lavish in describing the long life of the eagle and used it as a proverb, and likewise the health of the body of the crow. 3

The report is from al-Mas'udi alone, and it needs an additional source.
