The Kharit
When Ziyad ibn Khasafa wrote to Ali with news of al-Kharit, Ma'qil stood up and said that those who sought these men should have had ten men in place of each one of them, because a numerous force holds out against a numerous force. 2
Ali sent him with two thousand men of the people of Kufa, and made him commander over an army that joined two thousand men of Basra. 2
