Overview

Al-Marzuban ibn Muhammad al-Sallari, amir of Azerbaijan from the Banu Sallar. The museum's sources say that he gathered the people when the Rus came down on Radhaʿa in 332 AH. 2

Confronting the Rus

He had thirty thousand men with him. He fought the Rus in the morning and drew back to them in the evening, and he would not return except with his wounds bound. 2

Then he devised a stratagem: he lay in ambush for them and pursued them until they passed the place of the ambush. He killed many of them, among them their amir. He besieged the rest in the fortress of Shahrastan. 2

Leaving the siege

He left them when news reached him that Abu Abdallah ibn Sa'id ibn Hamdan was marching on Azerbaijan, and that Tuzun had died. 2
