Overview
Muhammad ibn Ahmad ibn Abi Bakr al-Riquti al-Mursi, whose nisba appears in the text read as "al-Qarmuti". 2
Learning
Al-Maqqari describes him as one of the most knowledgeable people in al-Andalus of the ancient sciences: logic, geometry, arithmetic, music and medicine. He was a philosopher and a skilled physician who taught peoples in their languages. 2
His refusal
When the king of the Romans took Murcia, he recognised his rights and built a school for him, where he taught Muslims, Christians and Jews. When the king invited him to Christianity and tempted him with rank, he refused. 2
The report relays a saying of his companions, to the effect that he was unable to render what is due to one God, so how would he be if he worshipped three. 2
His dates of life need an additional source.
