Overview

Abu Uthman Sa'id ibn Hakam al-Qurashi, originally from the town of Tabira in western al-Andalus. al-Maqqari describes him as generous, just and learned 2.

When the Christians took Mallorca, he rose up on the nearby island of Minorca, which had been held under the governor Abu Yahya, who had been killed. He made peace with the Christians for a fixed tribute, on condition that none of them would enter his island. Some time later the enemy took Minorca 2.

al-Maqqari reports that works which became well known in the Maghrib were composed under his name, among them "Rawh al-Shihr wa Rawh al-Shi'r" 2.
