Overview

Sayah al-Sindi, a leader from Sind. His report appears in the context of the conquest of al-Ahwaz in the caliphate of Umar ibn al-Khattab 1.

His conversion and his people

He asked Abu Musa al-Ash'ari that he and his people enter Islam, on condition that they fight the non-Arabs alongside him, and he stipulated for them a stipend and a dwelling wherever they chose. Abu Musa wrote to Umar, who agreed 1.

After the conquest they settled in Basra and became allies of the Banu Tamim, and many of them worked in the treasury and in money-changing 1.
